  Jesus not crucified on torture stake. Impossible!

  unwittingly the germans, during wwii, they experimented with many, many ways for killing people, efficiently and quickly.

  their records show that when a person is suspended with their hands over their head, as they would be on the jw "torture stake," they can survive for approximately one hour.

  if their feet are tied down, as well, the time is reduced to about 15 minutes.. .

  Having plowed through 7 pages of this what should be a non-debate, LOL (as no-one knows for sure the instrument, Leolaia and others admits this, although the evidence leans towards a cross, but Renaia insists that it MUST be a stake....)

  I want to address one of Renaia's original points, that of comparing the snake on a stake to Jesus on a stake.

  My question is this: How would you crucify a snake? It has no arms, right?????? So the analogy fails because Jesus had arms, and the method of execution could have been different. Snakes don't have any arms (unless you look at the old WT literature).

  I respect those who choose religion, but as for me, religion makes me sick.

  @PasswordProtected: I don't think that God would communicate to us through the "Holy Books". When you read the "Holy Books" with an open mind, you see how much slavery, genocide, rape, and disregard for human life is in the Bible, Koran, etc.... I have no stomach for that ...

  They call me "Brother Undercover"

  so i went to the memorial, the only meeting i've gone to for the past five years, i think it is.. i got the usual love bombing from some of the "friends", got ignored by some others but it was the elders that got me.

  four different elders came up to speak and every single one of them called me "brother".

  "it's good to see you brother undercover..." "how have you been brother undercover..." "staying busy at work, brother undercover...".

  A sister in NC still calls me up to prepare her taxes for her... and I cringe everytime she says Brother G.... I just call her L-----

  My stepfather is in slide #5. Slide #1 is the PO who I have posted about previously.

  I called him up to congratulate him. He hung up on me when he geard my voice.

  I called back. He said "You know how DFd people are treated!".

  I tried to tell him I loved him... but he got upset, called me an apostate, and hung up again.

  New Here - Hi All

  i'm new to this forum and look forward to getting to know you guys.. just a short summary about me, i was raised a jw, baptized at 15, married at 25, moved a few states away, started fading away about a year and a half ago.

  started doing some searching about some long-standing doubts and completely sure now that this isnt the truth.

  being out is still new and very difficult, but i'm making strides every day.. as i said, i look forward to getting to know you all..

  i have lost everything.. i am a third generation jw on both sides of my family.

  all of my family is in full time service, pioneers, elders, cos, international construction, anointed and gb.

  What to do with left over memorial emblems

  we have an italian cong that shares the hall with 2 english congs.

  an elder from the italian cong makes the wine & bread every year for quite a few of the congs in melbourne.. after the last memorial is held in our hall, the wine is taken back to this elders house where certain privileged ones are invited back for some socialising and to drink a very nice drop of red wine!

  as well as the usual assortment of cheese platters and crunchy bread.. we were privileged enough to be invited back a few years ago, but the whole idea didnt seem to sit well with me, so we took a raincheck and never got invited back again.

  One year in Ecuador another elder and I took the wine and crackers home (I had made them myself) and had some wine, cheese, and crackers. It actually wasn't that appetizing, and the irony was not lost on me. I'm here, after all... LOL

  i have been lurking in the shadows for a while now i just got my account from the fine administrators of this board.

  i have really enjoyed reading the well thought out comments and critiques of the wts doctrine.. i have been around the wts since i was 5 i left for a while during high school got to live a little worldly/normal life then got sucked back in.

  my wife has been raised in the truth and even though weve been inactive (for a while now), she still has thoughts about the earthly hope and seeing her grandparents some day.
